Dean’s Story – Client

‘I am an IPP sentenced prisoner and originally served 10 yrs and 4months on a 3yr and 6mnth tariff. I was recalled to prison after six years in the community for a nine month period and was able to achieve my re-release on parole with the help and support of New Connections. Since my release I have been volunteering with New Connections to help and support other prisoners post release in the same way that I have been supported.

It has made it easier for me to settle into my role, when I know that the New Connections team are there to support me in learning the skills that I need to succeed within this role and beyond. I know how difficult it can be without support, both pre and post release to achieve a positive outcome when on license, so to be in a position to help others to achieve this gives me massive satisfaction and reinforces why I volunteered.’
